After receiving Ali Hazelwood's newsletter saying Under One Roof's ebook is already out, no questions asked, I bought it. Because anything Ali Hazelwood writes is worth it. This novella did not disappoint!

Mara Floyd, Ph.D. is an environmental engineer who inherits her mentors' house. She is struggling financially and needs to move out and find a roof over her head in the house she inherited without knowing that William K. Harding, her mentor's nephew and a lawyer, owns half of the house.

Under One Roof is an adorable, heart-hiccup-worthy novella. A trope-packed story about enemies who try to outdo each other and become friends who bond over their own losses and secretly pine for each other. Later on, they formed a strong bond and strong chemistry.

“I like you very much, Mara. I like talking to you. I like watching you do yoga. I like the way you always smell like sunscreen. I like how you manage to say pretty much whatever you want while still being unbelievably kind. I like being in this house with you, and everything we do in here.”

I have a couple of things to squeeze about.

First, Mara and Olive, the female lead in The Love Hypothesis, have a lot of similarities. I am both a very sunshine-y character and, as I have been repeatedly told, a tini-tiny character. Liam, on the other hand, shares some similarities with Adam in that they are both described as huge. Liam has a different appeal as he was shown as an aromantic character. Though I set it aside because I incredibly enjoyed reading this novella that I chose to overlooked this matter.

In so few chapters and pages, Mara and Liam captured my heart! As they both empower each other in their respective fields, combating sexism and discrimination against women in STEM fields and grieving the loss of their mentor.

This novella is adorably, swooningly cute and hot. One you could read in a single sitting, one that will make your heart skip a beat, and one that will leave you wanting more. This novella deserves all the five stars it can get.
