A book review of Terms and Condition by Lauren Asher. The second book in the Dreamland Billionaire series.

 Title: Terms and Condition

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Adult Romance
Language: English

I’ll give you anything you want—anything at all—so long as you give me a chance to make you as happy as you make me. A dog. A family. A home. I want it all. These are my terms and conditions, take it or leave it because I’m not open to negotiations.

Terms and Conditions is the second book in the Dreamland Billionaires series, which follows three billionaires who need to get their inheritance from their grandfather through an instruction written for each one of them.

We already got the crumble bits of Iris and Declan's story in the first book, so I suggest reading The Fine Print first to fully enjoy this story.

Declan, the eldest brother, needs to get married and have a child to get his inheritance. After the contracted woman runs off after meeting Declan at the last minute to announce their engagement, there's no enough time but for Iris to come in.

Iris is Declan's secretary and worked for him for years; she knows him better than he knows himself. (Declan's words, not mine.) She becomes the subtiture bride to help Declan succeed.

My opinion on this book is messed up. Declan and Iris is just like Rowan and Zahra. Both have a grumpy, broody hero and a sunny heroine girl. Arranged marriage is not my cup of tea, but it's the only reason for me to read this, thinking it'll be different.

I skipped some chapters because of their lengthy and boring narratives. There are a few conflicts, and there is no real driving force or solid plot.

It's so hard to like the main characters. Declan is just like Rowan, but more robotic and cold. Iris, a person of color, was good representation, but I hope we see more of her culture. Though I absolutely like the mother and daughter relationship and her grandma, it stirs up something heartwarming.

I admire Iris's perseverance, especially given that she was dyslexic; her retorts to Declan's sarcastic remarks were always hilarious and brightened the scene. But my issue with her is that she's generic, works hard for Declan, and leads to a life without friends, social life, or even a vacation! Her only great motivation was her great love for plants and flowers, but that's it. It didn't make her unique or stand out.

Now to the main plot. The plot was convincing, Lauren used Iris's insecurity to stir her up and put a lot of pressure on Declan's character. In that scene, it was great! It added angst and was gripping.

But then Iris runs off, and then the whole ending was anticlimactic and underwhelming. The expensive and grand declaration of love is not my cup of tea; it's not even on my menu list! (Lmao.)

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book.
But hey, if you're a lover of grumpy and sunshine tropes—which is basically all Lauren's books—workplace/office romance, marriage of convenience, I serve you Terms and Conditions.
