Things Have gotten Worse Since... I last read this. I was excited to dive into this book and was expecting just enough little thrill and horror here and there. But I wasn't expecting that

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke is such a long title, I know, but it's about two lonely young women who found each other on the other side of the internet. They started conversing about selling this antique apple peeler and morphs into weird, strange, mortifying, and what-the-fuck-is-that-eww relationship.

Unlike its title, Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke is a short novella and is written in epistolary form. The narrative is delivered in the form of alternate emails and chats. Because of this, we rarely get any insight about the characters feelings and thoughts and until the end, the two women still remain a mystery to the reader.

Also, Agnes and Zoe's relationship progresses too quickly and these two characters remain flat. The ending was pretty loose and underwhelming. Still, the weird and unsettling feeling this novella gave me was so good!

A narrative of obsession, loneliness, and sadomasochism. This novella is definitely twisted and nasty, but it also shows how loneliness affects people. The internet world is definitely a different realm. We never know who is real or not, and it does make sense if most of the time, people seek some company on the internet as it is flexible and accessible for everyone. People start talking, and doing some nefarious and kinky deeds. But if things start to turn and twist in a different and strange situation or relationship, one must remain vigilant.

This novella is short and easy to read, but you better brace yourself for a roller coaster ride. A scene involving tapeworms and parasites really stood out to me. I don't want to give anything away, but I recommend reading this after eating. I was reading this while eating a cupcake, and because of that scene, I can't chew the cake properly anymore.

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke is a novella you will need if you are looking for a new, unsettling, and weird story with LGBTQA+ characters that you will definitely love! highly recommended!
